London’s New Years Eve fireworks on the Thames will be a ticketed event this year, with just 100,000 tickets sold at £10 each. The goal is to reduce the number of spectators and make managing the event easier.

With the many events held in 2014 to commemorate the bravery of the soldiers of the two World Wars, my visits to the delightful sea front of Weymouth are made more thoughtful each time I pass the memorials erected on the esplanade.
The bones of England’s King Richard III are the subject of a recreation by 3D printer, now shown in a display in the car park where they were found in 2012. The courts had determined that his actual remains should remain in Leicester and be reinterred in the cathedral there.
I couldn’t remember the name of this Ely bookshop when I saw the picture and chose it for a Picture of the Day. So I first went to Google maps, to Street View to find it. No luck, High Street in Ely seems to have been bypassed…
