Gumbo was visiting Historic Lower Fort Garry, situated on the banks of the Red River about a half hour’s drive north of Winnipeg. Built in 1830 by the Hudson’s Bay company, part of then Rupert’s Land, the stone wall fort if well preserved an a popular Canadian Historic site.
Ostrander Lake sits high in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Yosemite National Park. It is the source of Bridalveil Creek, which pours into Yosemite Valley dramatically as Bridalveil Falls. The lake is a popular destination with cross-country skiers in the winter, and hikers and backpackers in the summer.
Where dinosaurs and myriads of much smaller creatures once roamed, there are quaint villages and fossil-collecting enthusiasts.
This statue and fountain are in the tourist area of Holguin, Cuba. Somewhere to sit on a hot summer’s day and watch the world go by.
Samantha takes us to Dierkes Lake, near Twin Falls, one of her favorite places.
