A visit to Paris is not complete without spending a few hours wandering around the historic district of Montmarte . Originally a haven for artists and bohemians alike, the area is now more geared for tourists.
Paris is well known for its architectural splendor, and one highlight I experienced was a visit to the Musee d’Orsay, situated on the left bank of the Seine. It is housed in the former Gare d’Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station.
We had a day to spare on a recent trip to Marseilles . The B’n’ B we were staying at recommended a visit to Cassis (French pronunciation:kasi). We took a local train there, about 40 minutes journey from Marseilles.
On a recent visit to Marseilles in southern France, we took a day trip by train to Aix-en-Provence. It was a pleasant 50 or so minute ride in a clean, comfortable and modern carriage, and the passing scenery of Provence was very pleasing.
