Kandy’s Temple of the Tooth is where one of the most sacred Buddhist relics is found — one of Lord Buddha’s teeth. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site.
I must admit doing a double take when I saw this robust young monk working at repairing something by the roof of the Temple of the Tooth complex in Kandy.
The Sinhalese name for this city is Maha Nuvara (Senkadagalapura), impossible for the British colonialists to pronounce so they just called it Kandy.
