Gatwick Airport, London, has installed new software for Airport Collaborative Decision Making, a concept that means all vendors, airlines and the airport itself sharing information for safety and efficiency. The result is an increase in the airport’s capacity on its single runway—up to 55 flights an hour
Eurostar is expanding its service and, beginning May 1, 2015, offering direct trains to Lyon and the South of France, Avignon and Marseille, from London. It’s a particular benefit to those not stopping in Paris.
Computer outages in Britain’s air traffic control system are fouling up flights in and out of London, as controllers limit the number of flights to what they can handle without the misbehaving machines.
London’s Gatwick Airport, second only to Heathrow in British air traffic, is in a hot competition with Heathrow for the right to build an additional runway to accommodate growing air traffic in Southeast Britain.
Both American, which already flies the route and Delta, which doesn’t, are adding flights between Philadelphia and London—and increased competition usually means an opening for some sales as well…keep an eye peeled!
